I figured I would like this book since I love the Night Huntress series, but I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Vlad and Leila were amazing together and I thought Leila was pretty kick ass for a human. She didn't take anyone's crap, was smart and resourceful. I thought her abilities were unique and I liked how Vlad encouraged her to control them, instead of suppressing them.
Vlad was also amazing, but it's clear not to cross him. It was nice being in his hometown and learning more about his past. Though he can be cold, I could tell that he really cared for Leila.
The story line involving an old enemy was actually interesting and I liked the way it all played out. I'm curious to see where we go from here and I am reading the next book asap.
