Erin has moved to Baton Rouge to start a new life. There are two problems: she’s an Other (and tries to keep it a secret) and she has a stalker. Jude is a bounty hunter that works for a company called Night Watch. He mostly hunts Others and is a shifter himself. Erin and Jude’s lives collide with a series of murders that her stalker has committed.
This book had a lot of promise, but I had several issues with it. While Erin and Jude seemed like nice people, there was zero spark between the two. It was an almost insta-love situation, which didn’t seem to help. The author tended to hit the reader over the head with information, instead of letting it flow naturally. There were a lot of Others: shifters, vampires, witches, demons, etc. It was too much and there was a lack of focus regarding them. Plus, all the factions of Others seemed to hate each other and it was a miracle that they are able to keep hidden from the human world. There was also a lot of repetition, which happens to be my biggest pet peeve. I don’t need to be told the same things continually. The mystery involving the stalker was interesting and I was surprised at the reveal. The reasoning for the stalking, however, had a bit of an ick factor. The side characters, Zane and Dee, were ok, but I don’t think I’ll continue on with their stories.
