Reading progress update: I've read 86%.
I almost DNF'd at the 63% mark, but a friend encouraged me to continue. While I like some aspects of the story, I feel bogged down in others. I'm going to finish it now, but depending on how it ends, I'm uncertain if I'll continue. Another friend of mine, who loves to read as much as I do, suggested I watch season one of the show. She thinks I may want to read the rest of the books afterwards.
ETA: The characters I'm interested in are Arya, Bran, Dany, Tyrion and Jon. The rest I don't care about at the moment.
